Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. The first time the Selmons were brought up by Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They lived on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. He was also one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won two national championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week while he attended college. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. In 1988, while working as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's athletic department as assistant director. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
